Life Jiu Jitsu and Nova União: A return to the roots

Frederico Jorge da Eira, born on November 8, 1980 in the state of Alagoas, Brazil, began his martial arts journey at a very young age. At the age of five, he enrolled in Judo, where he began to explore the world of fighting. His passion for martial arts only grew over time, and at the age of ten, inspired by Bruce Lee’s films, Frederico switched to Karate. However, it was at the age of thirteen, when his mother enrolled him in Jiu Jitsu at the Nova União Academy, that he found his true calling. There, under the guidance of Master Welton Ribeiro, Frederico developed as an athlete, falling more and more in love with the sport and quickly excelling.

At the age of sixteen, Frederico had the opportunity to take part in a cultural exchange program in the United States, spending a year in Nebraska, where he finished high school. During this experience, he expanded his sporting repertoire, practicing Wrestling, Football and Baseball. In these disciplines, he not only excelled, but also broke records, won titles and received school honors, such as the famous “high school letters”. This phase in the USA was a milestone in his life, bringing valuable lessons that he took back to Brazil.

Back in his home country, Frederico resumed his Jiu Jitsu training, taking part in numerous championships and graduating with a black belt from the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Confederation (CBJJ) and the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF), where he is an active member with the number 86502 and a 2nd degree black belt. Alongside his training, Frederico completed his academic degree in Social Communication – Publicity and Advertising at the Hélio Alonso College (FACHA) in Rio de Janeiro. In addition to Jiu Jitsu, he also ventured into Muay Thai, a Thai martial art, in which he was graduated Black Kruang, an honor that reaffirmed his commitment to fighting. His experience as an instructor grew when he was hired by the renowned Rio Sport academy in Rio de Janeiro, where he taught Muay Thai to adults and Jiu Jitsu to children for two years.

The big turning point in Frederico’s career came during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he and his family decided to migrate to the USA. After settling permanently in the US, Frederico founded Life Jiu Jitsu Reno, an academy dedicated to promoting life, leadership and safety through Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, with a deep focus on discipline, confidence and personal development.

Life Jiu Jitsu Reno is currently part of the prestigious Nova União team, one of the largest and most respected in Brazil, recognized worldwide for training Jiu Jitsu and MMA champions such as José Aldo and Thales Leite. For Frederico, being part of Nova União is a return to his roots, representing the link that connects him to the beginning of his martial arts career. His commitment to Jiu Jitsu and Nova União remains unwavering, guiding his mission to pass on the values and teachings that formed him, both on and off the mat.
